Physical disability

Physical disabilities can be acquired in different ways. Some are present from birth, while others are the result of an injury, illness or medical condition.

A physical disability is a physical condition that impairs or restricts an individual’s mobility, dexterity or stamina

More than 4.5 million people in Germany live with a physical disability.

Some people are born with a physical disability due to conditions such as epilepsy or multiple sclerosis.

In other cases, a person might acquire a physical disability as a result of an accident or injury that causes severe physical impairment from which they never fully recover. Examples include people who have suffered heavy falls or impacts and, as a result, lost the use of one or more of their limbs.

Although it is sometimes clear that a person has a physical disability, it is not always immediately apparent. For this reason, we should be aware of and sensitive to others’ needs and abilities.

When you apply to ottonova, we will ask you some basic health and lifestyle questions, including a question about whether you have any form of disability. You must disclose this information in your application. Although your condition will be taken into account when designing your cover, a physical disability is by no means a barrier to private health insurance.
