What is telemedicine?
Telemedicine – also known as telehealth and eHealth services – allows healthcare professionals to speak with you and assess you via a video call.
This allows them to provide an initial diagnosis without the need to visit you or for you to leave your home. It also avoids the risk of infection in doctor’s office and waiting rooms – a particularly important benefit in the age of COVID-19.
See a digital doc with ottonova
As Germany’s first fully digital private health insurance provider, ottonova offers hassle-free access to a digital doc. Here’s how it works:
- Using the Concierge service in the ottonova app, request a video call with a doctor.
- We will send you a voucher code.
- Enter the code in eeDoctors, a partner app of ottonova.
- eeDoctors will connect you to a board-certified doctor who is available without waiting time.
Using your tablet or smartphone for the video call allows the doctor to examine you visually and issue a prescription or sick note if appropriate.
It is possible, of course, that a digital consultation will not be enough to diagnose or resolve your problem – but in the case of many minor and common ailments, telemedicine is highly effective.
