Dental implants

Dental implants are long-term solutions surgically attached to your skull or jawbone.

Dental implants are small screws surgically connected to the jawbone or skull to anchor or support prosthetics

Dental implants are common. They usually take the form of a small screw, often made from titanium, and essentially serve as replacement roots. They are used to anchor or support inlays, crowns, bridges or facial prosthetics.

Given that they interface with the skull or jawbone, dental implants must be inserted with a surgical procedure. In most cases, a local anesthetic is sufficient to control the pain. More anxious patients sometimes request some form of sedation to help them stay relaxed through the procedure. A general anesthetic is only administered in more complex dental implant procedures.

At ottonova, we cover most of the cost of dental implants – in our special Expat tariff, for example, we cover 90% of treatment costs. We also cover 100% of the cost of dental treatments such as fillings and root canals and 100% of the cost of biannual professional tooth cleaning appointments.

FAQ

As a private patient with ottonova you can go to any doctor of your choice. For dental treatments i.e implants or crowns (Zahnersatz) we provide a higher coverage if you choose a dentist from our ottonova network.

We offer student tariffs for full-time students up to the age of 39.

There are annual limitations, to a maximum of four insurance years for ‘Zahnersatz’/dental replacements (implants, onlays, inlays etc.). Here we are limiting the maximum reimbursement amount, to a certain total, but it is increasing every insurance year. Of course, should you have an accident and require immediate dental treatment/replacement, this limit does not apply. Limitations do also not apply for professional cleanings and regular dental treatments.
